SURFER T-Shirts - Sept. 1968
The September issue of 1968 was published smack dab in the middle of the shortboard revolution. Surfer Magazine editor Drew Kampion summarized the drastic chopping of surfboards’ lengths as “the greatest conceptual shift in surfing history.” An outline of a V-bottom surfboard, one of the fruits of this great conceptual shift, landed on the cover. The revolutionary board outline frame’s John Witzig’s photo of Nat “The Animal” Young putting the innovative design to use. Young, the reigning World Champion at the time, was blowing minds and dominating contests with his surfing on the new-school craft.
