SURFER T-Shirts - Jan 1964
Art is a pillar that Surfer Magazine is built on. The bold decision to place artwork on SURFER’s cover—the most coveted real estate in all surf media—over a photo was made frequently in the 60s. A wood block chalk rendition by artist Leo Bestgen adorned the cover of the December-January, 1964 issue. Bestgen portrays a surfer dropping-in and arching into a subtle blue and green abstract wave.
